Welcome to AP Honors English! I'm happy to introduce you to the course and to assist you in preparing for a very successful school year. It is important that you have the correct frame of mind to tackle this course. The course is designed to provide college/university level work and you will be required to do some arduous assignments and tasks. I am sure that you will succeed and do wonderful work!
I want you to take full advantage of what this course has to offer. To this end, there are several things that you should be focused on completing. one of the major tasks that you should begin immediately is to peruse the AP Reading List and start deciding on the literature that you want to read for the year. Unit 1: Short Fiction
We will read and analyze Joseph Conrad's dark tale, "Heart of Darkness."
Unit Two: Post-Colonial Literature
Historical accounts have, for the most part, been told from one distinct perspective. This unit will allow us to explore other perspectives and accounts from marginalized societies through literature. We will read Chinua Achebe's gripping tale, "Things Fall Apart."
Jealousy, like a tornado, will destroy Othello's life and everyone that comes into its path.
